Lucifer is a show that is one-part supernatural drama, one-part police procedural, and one-part comedy. Much of its strength comes from its characterization and dialogue, with its character interactions being one of the most beloved things about the show.
Nonetheless, when push comes to shove and its characters come to blow, Lucifer is able to deliver on the fight scenes. With an array of demons, angels, immortals, and regular humans attacking one another on a semi-frequent basis, the show delivers better action than one might expect. Some of these fight scenes stand out above the others, being remembered long after they finish.
10 Mazikeen And Lucifer Punch Their Feelings
Given how often they fall out and how often she betrays him, Lucifer and Mazikeen engage in combat surprisingly few times across the show’s six seasons. The first time they truly come to blows, following a long period of anger at one another, the result is a short and vicious fight.
With some hilarious dialogue and bloody violence between two beloved characters, the fight scene could be an all-time classic. However, it is somewhat let down by a sudden jump-cut to the fight’s late-stage, missing out on some of its action.
9 Lucifer Protects Chloe From Cain’s Men
The plot of the third season of Lucifer sees Cain interfering in Lucifer’s life in an attempt to become mortal, most notably putting his relationship with Detective Chloe Decker at risk. When the main group becomes wise to Cain’s crimes – particularly his murder of Charlotte Richards – he begins to try and take them out.
When Lucifer and Chloe are ambushed, Lucifer uses his wings to protect the Detective and subdue the hitmen ambushing them, leading Chloe to discover his true identity. Although not the finest choreography in the series, it is a powerful storytelling moment with major implications.
8 Lucifer Fights Drug Dealers With Perfect Backing Music
Many of the show’s more extravagant fights involve the titular character of Lucifer, as his near-indestructibility allows him to wander into seemingly-impossible situations and emerge the last one standing.
In the show’s third season, Lucifer lives up to a challenge to walk into a gang of drug dealers, greeting them as he goes. When he is attacked, Lucifer fights his way through the compound’s hallways in a way that would make Marvel’s Defenders proud. With SHINee’s ‘Lucifer’ playing in the background, the largely plot-irrelevant fight scene is considered one of the show’s most entertaining.
7 Mazikeen Battles A Martial Artist
Although Lucifer and Amenadiel lay claim to the title of ‘best fighter’ on the show, Mazikeen is the one to whom violence comes most naturally. She makes up for her lack of sheer power through superior skill.
When one of Lucifer, Maze, and Dan are challenged to fight a martial artist, it is Mazikeen who is selected from the three of them. Bare-handed, she shows off an impressive array of moves as she defeats the armed warrior with almost hilarious ease.
6 Lucifer And Chloe Break The Flaming Sword
The main plot of Season 5 deals with God abdicating the throne of Heaven, letting his children decide which of them will replace him. The two main contenders are Lucifer and Michael, neither of whom are overly well-liked by their siblings.
Michael gathers the most support, but Lucifer summons his demons to equal the odds, leading the two of them to settle things one-on-one. The fight has storytelling stakes, including the death of Chloe, and the cinematography of having Tom Ellis – who portrays both brothers – fight himself is impressive. However, Michael’s lack of skill leads to a slight dearth of tension.
5 Amenadiel And Lucifer Team Up To Fight Thugs
Acting as the show’s main antagonist for the first season, Amenadiel is a disappointed older brother who wants to force Lucifer to return to Hell. They have a brief fight early in the season that goes Amenadiel’s way, but don’t break out into too much more violence.
In the first season’s final episode, however, Amenadiel helps his younger brother out against a gang of thugs. Both being angels, the fight is over quickly, with the thugs not standing a chance. Nonetheless, the sheer ‘cool’ factor of the first chance to see a pair of angels working together ensures fans remember the scene fondly.
4 Amenadiel Demonstrates Cain’s Curse
The main goal of Cain in the show’s third season is to die permanently, being sick of living and surviving numerous deaths. Amenadiel demonstrates one of the downsides of immortality when Cain picks a bar fight with him.
Cain is immortal and, due to a crisis of faith, Amenadiel is a regular human man. Nonetheless, he’s a human man who spent millennia as the general of Heaven’s armies and is one of the finest warriors in the universe. As such, the fight handily goes Amenadiel’s way, seeing Cain die nine times, but not without some impressive fighting in between.
3 Most Of The Team Fight Demons
Given that most of the tension in Lucifer is between the main characters, it is rare that they’re all on speaking terms for long enough to fight side by side. However, when demons in the fourth season threaten to abduct Amenadiel and Linda’s son to make him the new King of Hell, all bets are off. Lucifer, Mazikeen, Amenadiel, Eve, and Chloe all fight to protect him from the demons in a very memorable sequence.
The main thrust of the action follows Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Maze, the three most accomplished fighters in the cast, and watching them all get to flex their muscles against numerically superior foes is an opportunity fans were not going to miss.
2 Lucifer And Maze Deal With Uriel
Uriel is a villain considered wasted by a portion of the show’s fandom. An archangel whose power is to see the consequences of actions and the patterns forming around him in the world, he is dangerous both physically and in a greater sense.
When he threatens both their mother and Chloe, Lucifer attacks. After a short period of time, Uriel is able to adapt, and does the same when Maze comes to Lucifer’s defense. It is an impressive fight scene with genuine stakes and an emotional gut-punch when Lucifer is horrified after being forced to kill his own brother.
1 Lucifer And Amenadiel Fight Mazikeen And Michael
The scene that ends the first half of Season 5, tensions come to a head between all of the celestial figures in Los Angeles at once. With Mazikeen siding with Michael in return for a soul, Amenadiel and Lucifer confront them before things go south.
The fight is unique, as it takes place entirely within frozen time thanks to Amenadiel, resulting in some excellent effects like shattered glass holding in place. Showing the dynamics between Lucifer, Maze, Amenadiel, and Michael all through combat, there is both character development and catharsis in a short space of time, with a well-choreographed battle to boot.
