American Horror Story’s tenth season will debut this summer after creator Ryan Murphy debuts a spinoff series from his acclaimed horror anthology titled American Horror Stories.
On May 18, FX Networks Chairman John Landgraf announced that American Horror Stories will debut exclusively on FX on Hulu in July and after its first season concludes, Season 10 of AHS will premiere, as reported by Digital Spy. Landgraf described Murphy’s AHS spinoff series as “a weekly anthology series that will feature a different horror story each episode.”
While it’s unknown when American Horror Stories will end — as it is equally unknown how many episodes will be in the spinoff series — FX confirmed that Season 10 of AHS will consist of ten episodes total and air its last episode on Halloween 2021. AHS alum Sarah Paulson is not currently listed to star in the spinoff series but is slated to direct a part of the series.
Murphy previously confirmed that Season 10 of AHS will be titled Double Feature. AHS newcomer Macaulay Culkin is slated to play an unknown role within Double Feature. However, Murphy recently shared some aspect of how his pitch to Culkin swayed him to accept the role, stating, “I said, ‘OK, here’s the pitch.’ And I told them the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, ‘This sounds like the role I was born to play.’ So, he signed up right then and there.”
In addition to confirming that the show’s upcoming season will be split into two parts, Murphy also told AHS fans that the castings might not be the same throughout Season 10. At the time of this writing, it’s not been confirmed which announced Season 10 actors will star in which part of the upcoming season, nor which roles they will portray. Season 10 will, however, see the return of AHS alums Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Adina Porter, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock and Frances Conry.
